Certified translation for documents used in Italy
Enrolling at a school in Rome, sharing records with an Italian clinic, converting a driving licence, or assembling a visa file? PRAVIS translates your documents and certifies them with the bureau seal. This is a practical format for many informational, private and preliminary submissions, but it is not automatically a traduzione asseverata or traduzione giurata. If the Italian recipient requires a translation sworn before a court, a giudice di pace or another authorised office, we tell you before you order.

Documents translated for Italy
For schools and universities in Rome or elsewhere in Italy, we translate school-leaving certificates, report cards, enrolment letters, diplomas, diploma supplements, academic transcripts and course descriptions. Medical work commonly covers hospital discharge summaries, laboratory results, specialist reports, treatment histories, prescriptions, vaccination records and insurance papers. A bureau seal can be suitable when a school, doctor or private organisation needs a clear translation whose provider can be identified. Acceptance is still the recipient’s decision, so we encourage you to share its written instructions before production.
For driving matters, we translate driving licences, entitlement or validity statements, category records and related correspondence. Family and visa-support files can include birth, marriage, divorce and death certificates, criminal-record certificates, bank and employment evidence, invitation letters, accommodation evidence and parental consent. An Italian consulate, Questura, Prefettura, Comune or Motorizzazione Civile may set its own document list, validity period and certification rule. Send that office’s checklist with your scans whenever possible. We will translate the relevant material and will not present the PRAVIS seal as a universally accepted government format. A translation supports the file; it cannot establish that the underlying application qualifies.

Bureau seal vs traduzione asseverata / giurata
PRAVIS’s standard service is a certified translation carrying a statement of accuracy, a signature and the bureau seal. It identifies the provider and may be sufficient for a private clinic, employer, insurer, an initial school review or another recipient that confirms it accepts a bureau-certified translation. The PRAVIS seal does not by itself turn the document into an Italian traduzione asseverata. We likewise do not describe the standard product as “sworn” when no oath has been completed under the procedure required by the receiving authority.
In Italy, a traduzione asseverata—also commonly called a traduzione giurata—usually involves the translator signing a verbale di giuramento and swearing to the translation before an authorised office. Booking practices, who may present the translation and the use of revenue stamps can vary by tribunal, ufficio del giudice di pace, notary and case type. It is primarily a procedure of asseverazione rather than one single national “sworn translator” status that automatically satisfies every office. A court case, civil-status registration at a Comune, citizenship file, particular academic recognition process or driving-licence matter may require asseverazione, consular certification or another formal route. If the instructions mention asseverata, giurata, verbale di giuramento, sworn translation or court certification, a bureau seal alone should not be assumed sufficient.

Send files nowApostille notes for Italy
Italy and Poland are parties to the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention. When an Italian recipient requires an apostille on a foreign public document, the apostille comes from the competent authority in the issuing country—for example, a Polish authority for a Polish civil-status certificate or a Ukrainian authority for a Ukrainian public document. PRAVIS does not issue apostilles, and a translation stamp cannot substitute for one. The apostille authenticates the signature, the capacity of the signatory and, where relevant, the seal on the original public document. It does not validate the document’s contents and does not replace translation.
There is an important EU exception. Regulation (EU) 2016/1191 removes apostille requirements for specified public documents moving between EU member states, including documents in defined areas such as birth, marriage, domicile, nationality and absence of a criminal record. A multilingual standard form, where available and accepted, can also reduce translation needs. The regulation does not cover every document, and it does not make every translation unnecessary. Check with the particular Rome Comune, university, consulate or other recipient before paying for apostille or certification. Where an apostille is required, the common practical sequence is to obtain it on the original first and then translate both the document and the apostille text, but the receiving office should confirm the final sequence.
How the process works from Wrocław
Start by sending a clear scan or photograph of every page and tell us the language pair, purpose and Italian recipient. Include the recipient’s email or web instructions when available. “Simple translation,” certified translation, asseverata, giurata, apostille, consular legalisation and a paper original are not interchangeable requests. We review legibility, stamps, handwritten entries and repeated material, then confirm scope, price and timing. If the supplied instructions show that local asseverazione is required, we flag that the standard PRAVIS seal does not satisfy that step on its own instead of allowing you to order the wrong format.
Once approved, the translator prepares the text and the bureau completes its quality check before applying the PRAVIS certification. A signed PDF is useful when the Italian recipient accepts electronic delivery or wishes to review the translation in advance. If paper is required, we send a signed, bureau-stamped copy by tracked post or courier from our Wrocław HQ to Rome, elsewhere in Italy or another country. Send physical originals only when the procedure genuinely requires them and use tracked delivery. PRAVIS prepares the language component of your file; it does not act for an Italian consulate or authority and cannot promise visa issuance, residence status, driving-licence conversion, school admission or a favourable administrative decision.
Frequently asked questions
Is the PRAVIS bureau seal enough for documents submitted in Rome?
Sometimes—for example, a private clinic, employer or school conducting an initial review may accept it. A Comune, court, Motorizzazione office, consulate or another official procedure may instead require a traduzione asseverata / giurata or different certification. Ask the named recipient.
Are traduzione asseverata and traduzione giurata the same thing?
In everyday Italian use, both often refer to a translation for which the translator swears an oath and signs a verbale di giuramento. The exact procedure and accepted presenter can depend on the office and local practice, so follow the recipient’s written wording.
What translation is needed to convert a driving licence in Italy?
That depends on the issuing country, current conversion agreements and the relevant Motorizzazione Civile office. We can translate the licence and supporting statements, but you should first obtain the current checklist and certification rule from that office.
Does a public document from another EU country always need an apostille?
No. Regulation (EU) 2016/1191 removes apostille requirements for specified categories of public documents exchanged within the EU. Other documents and procedures may still require one, so confirm the exact document with the Italian recipient.
Can PRAVIS translate school or medical records from scans?
Usually yes. Clear scans of every page are normally enough for quotation and translation. A physical original is needed only if the recipient or the selected certification procedure specifically requires it.
Does a certified translation guarantee an Italian visa?
No. PRAVIS is responsible for the translation’s accuracy and agreed certification format. The competent Italian authority alone decides visa, residence, citizenship and other applications.
